Narrative
A building site can often be the most important factor in a project, this particular client presented us with a location to build a lake home that was so impactful that our primary task was to just not mess it up. While the setting was incredible, the program from the client and their wish to build a home for generational connection and family gathering led to a design that solved their spatial needs and turned into something more meaningful. The design process benefits greatly from an underlying thematic story to inspire and unify the details to the overarching idea underpinning the concept. In the instance of this beautiful home, we envisioned a legacy property that had continually been reimagined by each generation, to create a new home with a tangible depth.
We have worked closely with Markalunas for over two years as we designed and built our retirement home in The Cliffs at Keowee Springs. The entire project was a delightful experience for us. We've built 7 other houses and we quickly recognized how creative the team was during the design process. And during the construction they continued to be a source of creative ideas. The result is that we have a terrific home, that's both comfortable to live in and very functional.
